UNITE Modular Solutions Ltd
UNITE Modular Solutions Ltd has been utilising hsbCAD's innovative and highly efficient CNC interfaces, as well as its hsbCAD's production management and scheduling applications, to design and manufacture its modular units since 2002.
Unite Modular Solutions (UMS) describes its business as follows: UMS designs, manufactures and constructs fully fitted volumetric modular units to form permanent, multi-storey buildings for residential and student accommodation, hotels, leisure, public sector and key worker accommodation. Modern methods of construction deliver commercial and environmental benefits to our clients and society at large and are key to our business philosophy. Off-site light steel frame volumetric modular construction combines innovative design and engineering techniques to provide factory manufactured, self-supporting buildings, incorporating all living and working accommodation, service areas, and common areas up to 11 storeys in height without the requirement for additional support structures.
Working with its customers at the early design stages, UMS ensures they are able to gain the maximum advantage from the use of modular construction. The Upstream design team work with AutoCAD Architecture software to undertake building design with clients and their representatives, before passing the designs on to hsbCAD trained technicians to design the individual modules. The UMS hsbCAD technicians receive training directly from hsb on the hsbCAD system before being given the freedom to fully design modules.
Once a module has been designed the CAD technicians upload the design to hsbCAD's Project Storage application using it to securely store and version control the design data.
When the factory is ready to manufacture the product UMS's production planning team release the works orders on its Oracle Manufacturing system and the orders are automatically placed via a link between the two systems into the hsbCAD Production Planner application. hsbCAD's Production Manager software automatically processes the works orders turning the designs into CNC files and placing them within the hsbCAD Controller from where the factory machines pick up the jobs.
As the modules are being constructed the hsbCAD Production Manager software seamlessly organises the CNC files and jobs. UMS takes full advantage of the hsbCAD Paperless Drawing software to check designs on the shop floor to ensure that modules are built to the exact specifications of the designer without the need to follow a quickly out of date paper trail.
